"Piggy" is a 1985 Solid Front Axle Toyota 4 Runner owned by us since 2010 when it was bought from a wreckers for $1500 after getting sent a picture by text message....
A ton of work has since gone into it, not for this trip but generally as it has been something of a project for me over the last few years. Check out the "Building Piggy" page for a full build thread on the 4WD action site. Be warned its long and picture heavy ;)
In Summary Piggy has gone from a banged up stinking old rust bucket to hopefully a capable touring rig...I guess we'll find out.
This is pretty much how we got Piggy in mid 2010 and wow did it need some work, rotten carpets rusted cracked windshield faulty electrics, leaking engine etc etc etc...
By now, early 2011, Piggy had had an engine swap to a Holden (Buick) 3.8 V6, and had a fair bit of basic cosmetic work done to it.
As 2011 progressed Piggy got re-sprayed and had a number of mods organised, like on board air compressor running front and rear air lockers just to start.
And this is how Piggy stands in October 2012. There is still a fair bit to be done in getting it ready to go.
Good job I have another year as really all it is good for right now is hauling its self over stuff, theres not much in the way of comfort, security included.
